I was lying in bed watching the third season of The West Wing and trying not to throw up when I heard something that instantly made me feel better. In the series, Josiah Bartlett, the President of the United States, holds a bachelor in American Studies.
Yeah, sure, he’s fictional, but when you add him to the list (a list containing, among others, Gene Robinson) I feel a lot better about my chosen field of studies. I might need to start name-dropping Mr. President next time I get the question, “American Studies? That’s interesting. And what exactly can you do with that in the real world?”
Apparently, it can make you president. At least, on tv.
